Classic Romantic Comedy and Midsomer Music at the Players Theatre

Thame Players present
Nobody’s Perfect
By Simon Williams

Tuesday 5th – Saturday 9th July

Tickets £8 – £10

Love Is All Round, a feminist publishing house with the motto ‘For Women By Women’, is running a competition to find new romantic fiction. To avoid gender bias, Leonard Loftus is forced to submit his novel under a female pseudonym, Myrtle Banbury. When ‘she’ wins first prize, Leonard begins to have a major problem. As a bashful statistician with a spectacular alter ego, he tries frantically to keep up the Myrtle charade, while enduring domestic complications from Dee Dee, his wayward daughter, and Gus, his rascally old father. His problems are made worse when he falls hopelessly in love with Harriet, who runs the company. In high heels and lipstick, our hero is caught in a hilarious dilemma of cross-dressing and cross-purposes.

Nobody’s Perfect has been acclaimed as a classic feel-good romantic comedy in the UK, Europe and Australia, offering belly laughs galore – the final scene has been described as a comic masterpiece.

This amateur production is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd on behalf of Samuel French Ltd

Lydia Kavina is one of the world’s leading performers on the theremin, the unusual instrument used during the title music of the long-running ITV detective series, Midsomer Murders.
