Princes Risborough Town Council – Christmas Lights Switch On
October 24, 2022DISCOVER WINTER DELIGHTS IN LAPLAND
October 24, 2022Chief Scout, Bear Grylls presented Henry Sinclair, aged 9 from Piddington, with an unsung hero award at his Bear Grylls Adventure Centre at the NEC, in Birmingham towards the end of September.
As well as meeting Bear Grylls, Henry was able to take his parents and sister and they were all able to try a range of activities at the centre such as scuba diving, archery and high ropes.
Henry, who is a member of Downley Scout Group, has been collecting for the “One Can Trust” for over two years. He was worried that during lockdown people would go without food. He set up a “drop-off point” outside his house and he spoke at school, Beavers and Cubs and encouraged his friends to become “Street Heroes”, and neighbours to “spread the word”. At Christmas he ensured there were festive gifts for other children.
Henry said, “I am happy to get this award from Bear Grylls, he is really cool and goes on such good adventures. I want to be like him when I grow up. Thank you to everyone in my village who keep donating food to help me help others. My Beaver Scout promise included the words, “To be kind and helpful” and my Cub Scout promise includes the words, “To help other people”. By collecting food for other people, I am actively carrying out my promise.”
