A Bunch of Amateurs
By Ian Hislop and Nick Newman
Tuesday 7th-Saturday 11th March at 7.45 pm
A washed-up Hollywood star comes to England to play King Lear at Stratford believing he will be appearing at Stratford-upon-Avon. Instead, he has signed on with the Stratford Players in the Suffolk village of Stratford St John. The villagers are naturally delighted to have such a ‘star’ playing with them. The fading actor considers himself too big for this lowly setting, and his transition to humble actor takes some time … Deliciously stuffed with Shakespeare … a laugh a minute.
