What to see at Aston Rowant NNR – May/June
April 30, 2024THE HAIRY BIKER’S VICTORIA SPONGE
April 30, 2024Laughter is the best therapy, and Aylesbury Waterside Theatre has it in bucketloads!
The theatre’s studio space is fast becoming the place to be for comedy for all. Their regular Comedy Clubs sell-out weeks in advance and now they’re hosting their first ever Comedy Club 4 Kids!
The debut Comedy Club 4 Kids takes to the studio space on Sat 25 May with the best stand-ups and sketch acts from the international circuit doing their thing for an audience of children (aged 6+) and their families. The show is family friendly, but without any patronising idiocy. In fact, it’s just like a normal comedy club, but it’s on in the day, kids are allowed in, and thus there is a higher than usual chance of heckles like “why is that your face!?”
“A highlight for children in recent years, giving them a taste of some of the biggest names in comedy… with the fun, rowdy feel of a real comedy club” – The Guardian
Not only this, but the Norman Bragg Studio offer boasts and Edinburgh Fringe best-seller coming with crude and compelling coming-of age comedy, The Olive Boy (Tue 28 May), a hoot of a night with Fanny Galore’s Big Bingo Party (Sat 1 Jun) and an all-dayer with Comedy Legends (Sat 8 Jun) where comedy historian Robert Ross, will be bringing a full, fun-filled day in the company of some of our best-loved comedy personalities including Louise Burton (Old Mr. Grace’s secretary Virginia Edwards in Are You Being Served?), Judy Buxton (Rising Damp, On the Up), Jeffrey Holland (Spike Dixon in Hi-de-Hi,) Madeline Smith (James Bond Girl) and Steve Nallon (voice of the indomitable Margaret Thatcher in Spitting Image).
With household rib-ticklers including Rhod Gilbert, Jimmy Carr and Ben Elton taking to the main stage over coming months, the Waterside really is the place to be for the very best in stand-up.
