This walk takes advantage of good paths in hilly countryside with some lovely views.

Route

Continue along the road, walk past the village hall and church and turn right along a wide track. Follow the track past the gate and round the left-hand bend to a junction.

1. Continue forward down the stony track to the edge of the wood. Fork right uphill and along as this path soon goes downhill emerging on to open fields with a lovely view towards Skirmett. Continue downhill, go through a gate and over a stile and turn right to a lane in the village of Fingest.
2. Turn left along the lane and turn right through a gate into the church yard. On the right there is a small brick paved area with a sundial which makes a good coffee stop. Follow the path past the church and go through the gate into the lane. Turn right along the grass verge and, almost immediately, bear right through a gateway. Follow the track between a flint wall and high hedges up to a path junction.
3. Take the footpath immediately right. This is a pretty path with views across to Hanger Wood. Continue for 600m, go past the gate and turn right downhill towards Gravesend to a path junction just before a lane.
4. Turn immediately left and fork right to continue along the bridleway which soon comes out into open fields. Follow the bridleway for 800m and pass a wide track joining from the left to soon arrive at a stony track on the right.
5. Take this track and, just before the cottages, turn right through the gate in the hedgerow. Cross an open meadow and through the next gate into a lane. Cross the lane to the bridleway immediately opposite, follow it steadily uphill and along to meet the wide track at Waypoint 1. Turn left past the shady pond to return to the parking place just past the church.
