Chinnor Runners are Running the length of Wales for Diabetes

Simon Pollard and Mark Evans are going to be running the length of Wales to help to raise money for charity.

Starting on the 6th of September 2021, they are taking part in the world’s toughest mountain race, the ‘Dragon’s Back’ (www.dragonsbackrace.com).  This means they have +400kms of running and +57k feet (twice the height of Everest!) of climbing ahead of them over every single mountain in Wales.  Across 6 days, they’ll hopefully run from Conway Castle in the North to Cardiff Castle in the South.

The background and inspiration for this challenge is Simon’s 7 year old son, Ethan!  He was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2020 which has had a huge impact on his life. Whilst he has been incredibly brave in tackling all challenges which the disease throws his way, he remains a happy, smiley and positive little boy!  To help Ethan and others like him, Mark and Simon are hoping to raise funds which will be shared equally across the following important charities:

Diabetes UK (www.diabetes.org.uk/)

The Paediatrics Diabetes Team (PDT) at the Children’s Ward in Stoke Mandeville Hospital (SMH) of Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust

St Andrew’s Church of England Primary School in Chinnor
