- Turn left along Lower Road to a gate on the left opposite Foundry Lane. Cross the stile and follow the fence uphill. Over the next stile, bear right and along the top of the field. Pass through two gates, follow to the right of the hedgerow as it winds downhill. Where that ends, continue for a further 80m and bear right through a gap in the hedgerow to a lane.
- Turn left past Small Dean Farm, after 200m, turn right into a car park and through the gate at the back. Turn left, follow the path uphill and through the gate to a path. Turn left up through the wood and fork right to a crossing path at the top. Turn left and out through the gate to a lane. Turn right for 150m and left through the gate into a field. Walk along the left-hand edge and through two gates to a road. This field can be extremely muddy. To avoid it, continue along the lane to the road. Turn left along the pavement to rejoin the route at Waypoint 3.
- Cross, head down the lane opposite to the tennis club entrance and take the path ahead. Cross the stile into the former site of the Maize Maze. Continue through two gates, cross the stile into the field, bear right over it and a stile onto a lane. Turn left and, at the first bend, bear left past the post box for 300m to the path just after Ducks Nest Cottage.
- Turn right, walk forward for 60m and through the gate into a field. Descend to pass the gate at the bottom onto a lane. Turn left and follow the lane for 1.4km up to a house called ‘Datcha’.
- Turn immediately right, follow the path between hedge and fence and through the gate. Turn left along the wide track to a road and turn right along the pavement to return to the start.
