May 3, 2017If you’re looking to get in shape for summer, why not dance your way to fitness? Zumba is one of the most popular exercise classes in the UK, with classes held in schools, community centres and halls across the country. 15 million people have tried it so far, for good reason. Zumba is fun, energetic and suitable for beginners up. You don’t need any special equipment, just some comfy clothes that allow you to move freely, and a pair of non-slip shoes.
The music is usually Latin-inspired, so it’s fast and makes you want to move. There’s a little bit of salsa, a dash of hip-hop, a dollop of mambo, and a few more styles thrown into the mix. Zumba also includes a few aerobic moves, such as squats and lunges. Your instructor will demonstrate key moves, then the class will follow them together. Don’t worry about going wrong, no one gets all the moves right straight away, and no one cares. Half of the fun of Zumba is being able to laugh at yourself as you spin the wrong way. You’ll probably be out of breathe, red-faced and sweaty when you finish the class, but you’ll also be counting down the days to the next class.
